Troll Contest on Valentine's Day.
A troll contest will be going on this Monday, 14 Feburary 2005. The
following are the rules:
To compete, you must post between one and ten troll messages on Usenet
between 12:00 UTC on 14 February 2005 (4am Pacific) and 08:00 UTC on 15
February (00:00 Pacific). They must be cross-posted to alt.troll. By
cross-posting to alt.troll, you are "submitting" it to the contest. If
you submit more than ten posts, your ten lowest-scoring posts will be
counted for the contest.
Additionally, you may cross-post, but doing so (aside from
cross-posting to alt.troll) counts against your ten posts. In other
words, if you cross-post to 4 groups, including this one, it would
count for 3 of your alloted ten.
The reason for this limitation is to make trolling truly an art form:
you must put much effort and consideration into your posts, since you
only get ten for this contest. Spamming is sloppy trolling, not what
true trolls should value.
Each post must start its own thread. Trolls may not further contribute
to the threads they create.
Judging: Each troll-post is judged according to the number of replies
received within 36 hours of the post. The winner is the person with the
greatest number of replies to his or her ten troll posts.
Finally, to be eligible for the contest, trolls must announce that they
intend to participate, in this item, before making any posts.
A bonus of +20 posts is awarded to any person who can get SOLLOG to
reply to one of his or her posts.
